Analytics & Insight Product Owner


ELEXON is vital to the smooth operation of the wholesale electricity market. We compare how much electricity generators and suppliers said they would produce or consume with what they produced or consumed, using metered volumes. We work out a price for the difference and transfer funds accordingly, and this involves handling £1.5 billion of market participants’ funds each year.

The governance surrounding this are set out in the Balancing and Settlement Code (BSC), which is effectively a multiparty contract that ELEXON administers while providing and procuring the services required to deliver it. Our expertise and impartiality ensure our customers have confidence that the BSC is operated both efficiently and accurately. Product Owner: Analysis and Insights Product

This Product Owner role is responsible for the Analysis and Insights Product within ELEXON’s Digital Operations Directorate. The Digital Operations Directorate is comprised of three Digital Product teams and best practice capabilities, including architecture, business analysis, and project management. The Analysis and Insight Product is responsible for the publishing of standardised BSC data, reports, and market insight.

The Product Owner is accountable for both operational delivery and envisioning the future of the digital product, working with product teams, users, stakeholders, and development teams to realise it. This includes the delivery of products and the matrix management of product support capabilities. The Product Owner will lead the product team to ensure the vision is delivered in the day to day working of the team.

The role holder will ensure that the product meets the obligations and requirements in the codes/ contracts it delivers against and that there is consistency in ELEXON’s operations across codes or activity where possible. The Product Owner acts as a catalyst of change in the organisation, enabling value creation through process implementation and product delivery. The product owner will be responsible for managing a team and budgets and project governance.

To be considered for this role:

Applicants should have recent experience in a similar position. Ideally, accountability for a similar product i.e. insights and analysis, or business intelligence. Other desirable skills, attributes, and experience requirements include:
  • Recent experience developing new product offerings
  • A consistent background of understanding customer requirements
  • Delivered products that are data or insights centric
  • Team management and development
